We got there about 3:30 on Monday and quicky were brought to our suite. It was very nice, spacious with very tall ceilings. THe shower was like a rainfall.. The water came from a log running lengthwise over you in the shower. We had our own private jacuzzi tub on our balcony. So we changed very fast into our bathing suits (and yes, I did wear a kini WITH a coverup!) So we headed down to the beach with our sacred envelope. We were the only people on the beach. Our beach butler came and I ordered my first glass of wine and brett got a beer I think. We waited for our refreshments, toasted and Brett sat next to me and he opened the envelope with it saying "ITS A BOY". Here's a pic of me, about to open and then calling Dad to tell him the Barron name, lives on!
Not a huge surprise. We both felt like it was a boy. So I wasnt "shocked" as I would have been had it been a girl. So we made a few phone calls home to the US (at $1 a minute) and released the news. We seriouls y did NOTHING the rest of the trip. Just stared at the ocean, felt the sun (and my burn from the first day) and relaxed. Never left the resort either! Now that's a vacation! Brett has been over the moon since and has BIG plans for this boy. He's wondering if he can take him fishing like asap. I hope he realizes he wont be able to cast this year. We also are SO pumped for little B's new friends he will have! His aunty Ashley and Uncle Russ will welcome his soon to be girlfriend/wife/soulmate in early May: Baby Wade. AND then he will have his new BFF's: Hudson Gross who will undoubtedly be showing Little B how all the 8 month olds rock it in the camping, fishing, hunting gear (thanks Uncle Bubba and Aunt Jen for starting the trend) and then Barrons other BFF, Baby Thompson coming in hot and right behind him from Auntie Melinda and Uncle D! We are so excited we have a great pack of friends for Barron already built in, heheh! Congrats to Mel and Dan.
In case any of you are wondering, Mel & Dan and Brett & I have shared a lot of life's milestones very happily (beyond being each others BFF"s), . We got engaged 2 weeks apart, will have babies 3 weeks apart from one other and got married 4 weeks apart from one other. I wonder what's next? The #2 baby!!?? Not anytime soon. I do want to announce though, again for the record, what Brett has promised me
"Kate, if Mel and Dan have a boy too, you and Melinda can take a 1 weeks vacation once a year forever"
-Me "Oh really? I think Melinda will like this!
-Me telling Daniel " Daniel do you know what Brett said? .... (see above)"
Daniel: "Wait Brett's talking for me!? He didnt ask me about this!
Melinda "Oh Daniel, its already been decided somewhere warm, and sandy"
Jennifer Gross interjects "Um yea, I'll be in on that trip too"
me- "DUH!!!"
The last time Daniel went to the beach with us, he left without 10 layers of his skin on his feet. A truly memorable vacation together.
